QPatch introduction at SBS

The introduction will take place at the Society for Biomolecular Screening (SBS) 9th Annual Conference and Exhibition in Portland, Oregon September 21-25.

QPatch 16 is a highly automated, chip-based patch clamp system that simultaneously conducts 16 patch clamp drug screening experiments, delivering the same high-quality associated with traditional electrophysiology.

Patch clamp experiments play a significant role in drug discovery targeting ion channels. Though ion channels play a major role in a number of diseases, they have until now been very difficult to explore, because of limitations in existing technologies. Patch clamping is the gold standard for studying ion channels, but the technology has until now been extremely slow and requiring very skilled operators.

With its potential to increase throughput more than 100 times compared to traditional patch clamping, QPatch 16 can be expected to be a driving force behind a true revolution in ion channel drug discovery. The result is expected to be development of more and also more efficient ion channel-based drugs, in addition to a shorter pre-clinical development timeline.
